I was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada, and grew up in a half-dozen little prairie towns because my dad was a Royal Canadian Police Officer. No he did not ride a horse, even though he was bow-legged.
I’ve lived in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Japan, and I funded these adventures by being a nanny at 19 years old, then picked gherkins, watermelons, and planted tomatoes on farms and even worked as a chicken sampler in a grocery store in New Zealand.
I earned $220,000 in research funding for my PhD and have published numerous articles in international, peer-reviewed journals that nobody will ever read.
The most rewarding job I ever had was creating the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy and serving thousands of new teachers with my Beginning Teacher Talk podcast.
And yes, the story about landing a job at my dream school, Mike Mountain Horse Elementary in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, is true. I even taught the superintendent's granddaughters... 😁 #holycowthatwascary
