I was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada, and grew up in a half-dozen little prairie towns because my dad was a Royal Canadian Police Officer. No he did not ride a horse, even though he was bow-legged.
I’ve lived in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Japan, and I funded these adventures by being a nanny at 19 years old, then picked gherkins, watermelons, and planted tomatoes on farms and even worked as a chicken sampler in a grocery store in New Zealand.
I earned $220,000 in research funding for my PhD and have published numerous articles in international, peer-reviewed journals that nobody will ever read.
One of the most rewarding jobs I've ever had was creating the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy and serving thousands of new teachers with my Beginning Teacher Talk podcast.
And yes, I did land my dream job at the perfect school, Mike Mountain Horse Elementary in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. I even taught the superintendent's granddaughters... 😁 #holycowthatwascary
