Are you worried about classroom management when you take on your own classroom in the Fall? If that’s you, this 4 part mini series is perfect for thinking through how you are going to plan and implement your classroom management strategies. 

In this series, I am sharing how to manage the tiny humans in your classroom, set your classroom management foundation, and how to troubleshoot things that come up throughout the year. We are kicking off this mini series by diving into setting the foundation in 4 clear steps.

There are many things that go into great classroom management but creating crystal clear routines and expectations is one of the most important pieces. Students need to know what is expected of them in any given situation and we cannot expect them to read our minds to figure out what our expectations of them are. Clearly defining our expectations and routines in the classroom is not only beneficial to us, but it’s beneficial for our students as well.

However, just telling our students what our expectations and routines are is not enough. Students need to be taught and shown what the expectations are and what they look like for every single thing they do throughout the day. 

Don’t make the same mistake I did in thinking that students will just know how you want them to enter the classroom or what the expectation is for asking to use the restroom. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to get clarity around what routines and expectations you need to teach and show your students.

Another key piece to successful classroom management plans is having a combination of natural consequences and finding the positives in your students. Finding the balance between consistently delivering natural consequences and consistently finding the positives and rewarding is key to building a strong classroom community where students are motivated, feel respected, and learn in a supportive and safe environment. 

In this episode, we are diving deeper into these three pieces of classroom management and I’m sharing practical examples to help as you think through your routines and expectations for next year. Plus, I am sharing how you can earn a PD certificate just by listening to this mini series!
