Classroom Management Hack: No More Running to Line Up

As teachers, we've all been in this situation..

You're getting ready to line up the class to go somewhere like recess, gym, or the library. When you ask your students to line up, they immediately run to snag the "best" spot in line.

If you've tried literally everything to get your students to follow your directions and calmly walk to the line (but nothing seems to work), today's hack is for you.

All you need to do is simply assign your students a place in line using a number.

You can get some super strong tape and print numbers on them using a sharpie and then space them equally apart on the floor (check out my favorite number spots here). Then, assign each student a number.

When you call their number, each student will go line up and stand directly on top of their number.

That's it! No more running to try to get the best place in line because everybody knows where their places are. So simple, right?
