How Elementary Teachers Can Use ChatGPT to Save Time

Show Notes:

As beginning teachers, we’re always looking for ways to save time on things like lesson planning, preparing engaging activities, creating practice worksheets or assessments, and so much more. Until now, the only way to truly get time back was after having years of experience in the classroom. But with the use of ChatGPT, you can instantly save time as an elementary teacher while also generating creative lessons for your students.

The use of ChatGPT has been a big topic inside The Classroom Management Club, along with other online AI platforms, so I want to share how to effectively use it in your elementary classroom. ChatGPT is a language model that was developed by Open AI to generate texts based on the input it receives. This amazing tool does so many things for educators and I can’t wait to share them with you.

I have played around with ChatGPT myself and asked it to generate the various components of an educator’s day. Some of the items it can create are lesson plans, content creation, brainstorming ideas, lesson hooks, educational resources, and the list could go on and on. Members inside the club have shared that ChatGPT has saved them time on gathering supplemental texts, creating personalized vocabulary for ESL students, and generated more creative ideas for discussion questions and writing prompts.

However, there are some downsides or limitations with ChatGPT to consider, such as formatting, making sure reading levels are accurate, and students taking advantage of it on their own work. So even though there are so many benefits as a teacher, I do want you to be aware of the negatives. If you’re looking to save time as an elementary teacher, I encourage you to check out ChatGPT and start using it with the various aspects of teaching throughout your day.

We’ve already talked about how to use ChatGPT inside The Classroom Management Club, but I’m sharing even more resources regarding this online tool that you can use in your classroom. Those things include educational resources, teacher cheat sheets that have already created prompts for your students, and many other ideas on how ChatGPT can be used inside your classroom. Join the club and help me streamline your systems to save you time and have success with classroom management!

Inside this week's show, you'll learn:

  • What ChatGPT is and how to effectively use it in your classroom
  • A variety of ways ChatGPT can save you time, such as lesson plans, practice worksheets, and more
