Show Notes:

Even though you go to school and learn the ins and outs of being an educator, there’s still so much that you don’t learn but are expected to know once you’re in the classroom. One of those things is how to prepare for field trips. We all remember going on them when we were students, but knowing how to adequately plan and execute a field trip from a teacher's perspective is all brand new.

If you’re a beginning teacher and looking to plan a field trip, I’ve got you covered! There’s a lot of detail that goes into an event like this, and in today’s episode, I’m going to walk you through exactly how to prepare for field trips. This includes what needs to happen before the field trip, items to bring with you, how to enforce your behavior expectations, and how to wrap up the students’ experiences when you return.

Going on field trips creates such meaningful, memorable, and lasting experiences for students, which is why we need to know how to plan for field trips properly. Being a new teacher, I understand why this can be overwhelming and unfamiliar to you because it’s an aspect of teaching you weren’t prepared to deal with. But after listening to this episode, you’ll pull off planning a field trip like the professional you are!

Still overwhelmed by the thought of how to plan a field trip? Make sure you join The Classroom Management Club! Inside the club I have resources readily available to you that helps you communicate with parents, gives you a checklist on what to do before you leave, and so much more! In addition to field trip resources, the club also has ways to help you streamline your classroom management and gives you support to make small changes that create impactful changes.

Inside this week's show, you'll learn:

  • How to plan a field trip and how The Classroom Management Club can provide resources to assist you
  • Ways to communicate with your students and how consequences outside the classroom are connected to those inside the classroom
  • Ideas for student activities to engage in during the field trip to help them focus on what they’re learning
  • Activities to keep learning going when you return from the field trip

I hope this information is helpful as you prepare for your first, second, or third year of teaching. Until next time, remember, just because you're a beginning elementary teacher, there's no need for you to struggle like one.
