Show Notes:

It’s always so exciting and inspiring to hear other teachers share their experiences, struggles, and accomplishments. Whether they have been teaching for one, two, or eight years, hearing from other teachers can be so helpful for new teachers who are looking for insight as they begin their teaching journey. That’s why I am so excited for our New Teacher Spotlight Series that we’re launching this month!

There are many things that a university program or teacher credential programs don’t cover when it comes to running your own classroom. Having a clear plan for how you will navigate classroom management and consequences or even how you will organize your classroom are things that most teachers aren’t prepared for when they step into the teacher role. That is why our guest today, Jenna Barron, is so glad she invested in herself and enrolled in the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy.

Jenna Barron is our first guest as we kick off this New Teacher Spotlight series. Jenna spent three years teaching in Thailand and has been teaching in Spain for the past five years. She currently teaches first and second grade at a private school in Madrid. In this episode, she is sharing all about her experience teaching abroad, why she is so glad she invested in the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy, and how the course has helped her prepare for and navigate running her classroom.

Even though Jenna had been in the classroom with other teachers for several years, she knew she needed something that would guide and support her to feel secure as she transitioned into having her own classroom. Inside the Academy, she found the support she was looking for and was able to start the school year feeling confident and prepared for everything from wall space design to behavior challenges. It is so apparent that her classroom fosters student learning that her director has made it a point to recognize her and her work. How amazing is that?!

Jenna shared how much the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy helped her plan and prepare for running her own classroom in an effective and efficient way. The Academy is open for enrollment until summer and I would love to help YOU prepare for next school year as well so you can walk into your classroom feeling confident you are ready to take on any challenges that arise.

Inside this week's show, you'll learn:

  • Why Jenna decided to join the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy and what she was struggling with before joining.
  • How she felt as she was going through the course and preparing for the next school year.
  • How the academy helped Jenna gain more control over behavior challenges that arise in her classroom.
  • A creative way Jenna was able to motivate her students thanks to mindset shifts from the course.
  • What the impact was of being prepared to design her wall space.
  • Jenna’s biggest “aha” moment from the course.
  • How the natural consequences lesson helped her to think through situations and prepare for them before they happened in her classroom.
  • Jenna’s advice for anyone who is on the fence about joining the R.E.A.D.Y. for School Academy.

I hope this information is helpful as you prepare for your first, second, or third year of teaching. Until next time, remember, just because you're a beginning elementary teacher, there's no need for you to struggle like one.
