Show Notes:

Nothing beats being surrounded by a community that truly gets it—the late nights, the lightbulb moments, and the endless passion for helping students grow. When you’re part of the Classroom Management Club, you’re not just exchanging ideas and strategies; you’re sharing purpose, strength, and the kind of support that only fellow educators can offer.

In last week’s episode, we kicked off our conversation with three of our fabulous coaches—Alicia, Michelle, and Becca—who shared their experiences as members of the Club and offered tips for improving classroom management. With so much advice, wisdom, and practical strategies to share, we couldn’t fit it all into just one episode! Alicia, Michelle, and Becca are back today to continue our conversation, discussing why they love being coaches, everything the Club has to offer, and their advice for beginning teachers on managing their classrooms.

While there are countless things they love about being coaches, one thing they all agree on is the value of the coaching calls. Each coach praised them as a space where educators can come together with their struggles and challenges, but leave with strategies tailored to meet student needs (and they’ve all brought their own struggles to the table, too!). The Club and its coaches emphasize the importance of perseverance when it comes to classroom management. Each coach has their own story of needing to try and experiment with different strategies until they found what worked, which is something every teacher can relate to.

Throughout our conversation, the coaches also describe the Club as a collaborative community where educators can grow. With feelings of imposter syndrome and the tendency to compare ourselves to others, it’s easy to get caught up in daily struggles. But they remind us of the Club’s “progress over perfection” mentality. Adopting this mindset will not only help you overcome classroom management challenges but will also empower you with a few key pieces of advice that will lead to long-term success.

Positive, safe, supportive, and community—these are the words our coaches repeatedly used to describe the Classroom Management Club. In this community, you grow not only as an educator but as a leader, a learner, and a source of support for others walking the same path. I’ve truly enjoyed speaking with the leaders inside our community, and I hope they’ve shown you how the Club can be a source of inspiration and support for educators everywhere.

Inside this week's show, you'll learn:

  • Why teachers should take on the perspective of a "mad scientist" when it comes to solving classroom management challenges.
  • How coaching calls can provide support for managing difficult students or classroom behaviors, and why our coaches value them.
  • Why the Classroom Management Club is like a big treasure chest—full of resources and strategies that you can tweak and tailor to meet the specific needs of your classroom.
  • Advice and words of wisdom from the coaches for new teachers who are worried about classroom management and how the Club can help.
  • This positive community is not just a place to share struggles and ideas, but also a space where you can celebrate your wins and happy moments.

I hope this information is helpful as you prepare for your first, second, or third year of teaching. Until next time, remember, just because you're a beginning elementary teacher, there's no need for you to struggle like one.
